Project begun with Government of FSM Telecommunications Sector Reform and subsequent financing agreement by the IDA of the World Bank to design, develop, and operate submarine cables to improve broadband adoption in FSM. We have Milestones updates as the project has progressed and will continue to update on project implementation. We will continue to provide updates once the cable system is activated and delivering services to Yap and will begin tracking and reporting improvements in broadband adoption.
This is an drone video of the cable laying vessel as it reaches Yap shores in the Federated States of Micronesia - October 2017
The Submarine cable laying vessel completed its laying of the Yap Cable on 8/29/2017. The double-armor pipes were secured to the near shore end for protecting the cable from various hazards. This video was taken by divers that document the near shore cable laying demonstrating that the job was completed as designed.
